🔧 Assembly & first start

Initial assembly (4 steps)

  1. Assemble the guide bar and saw chain. Remove the bar nuts and clutch cover. Assemble the guide bar onto the bar bolts. Move the bar to its most rear position.
  2. Install the clutch cover. Align the hole in the guide bar with the chain adjuster pin and install the clutch cover. Tighten the bar nuts finger tight.
  3. Adjust the saw chain tension. Tighten the saw chain per "To adjust the tension of the saw chain."
  4. Check the chain catcher. Make sure the chain catcher is correctly attached.

First-start / break-in

  1. Move the front hand guard forward to engage the chain brake.
  2. Pull the start/stop switch out and up to set it in choke position.
  3. Press the air purge bulb about 6 times or until fuel starts to fill the bulb.
  4. Pull the starter rope handle until the engine starts.
  5. Quickly disengage the throttle trigger lockout to set the product to idle speed.
  6. Move the front hand guard rearward to disengage the chain brake.

Clean the air filter
  1. Remove the cylinder cover and the air filter.
  2. Use a brush or shake the air filter clean. Use detergent and water to clean it fully.
Sharpen the saw chain
  1. Use a round file and a file gauge to sharpen the cutting teeth.
Adjust the depth gauge setting
  1. Use a flat file and a depth gauge tool to adjust the depth gauge setting.
Check the brake band
  1. Use a brush to remove wood dust, resin and dirt from the chain brake and clutch drum.
  2. Check that the brake band is at least 0.6 mm thick at its thinnest point.
Check chain brake activation
  1. Ensure the front hand guard is not damaged and moves freely.
  2. Hold the product with two hands above a stable surface.
  3. Let go of the front handle and let the guide bar tip fall against the stump.
  4. Start the product and apply full throttle while tilting your left wrist against the front hand guard to engage the chain brake. The saw chain must stop immediately.
Check the throttle trigger
  1. Ensure the throttle trigger and lockout move freely and return spring works correctly.
  2. Press down the throttle trigger lockout and ensure it returns to its initial position when released.
Check the chain catcher
  1. Ensure there is no damage and that it is stable and attached to the body.
Check the vibration damping
  1. Ensure there are no cracks or deformation on the vibration damping units.
Check the start/stop switch
  1. Press the start/stop switch down to STOP. The engine must stop.
Check the muffler
  1. Start the engine and examine the muffler for damages and defects.
  2. Ensure the muffler is correctly attached to the product.
